The donation from Peopleplace family of a wooden dinosaur skeleton develops into days of figuring, sorting, and trying to figure out how these “bones” fit together. Paleontology is hard work!

Monday was Hat Day at Peopleplace!
Inspired by the elementary school and middle school Spirit Weeks, some of our students decide that we need to have spirit week as well. Here is the schedule they have planned for the week:
Monday – Hat Day
Tuesday – Sports Day
Wednesday – Wacky Hair Day
Thursday – Pajama Day
Friday – Dress-up Day

On Wednesday, May 5, a small group of children and teachers walked from Peopleplace to the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport to view the community art show. They very much enjoyed seeing their own artwork on display. While they were at the museum, the children also had the chance to see paintings, sculptures, sketches, photographs, quilts, and collages created by students from some of the other schools in our community.

On Friday, April 16, in honor of Earth Day, we joined together with the students from Children’s House Montessori school to walk in the All Species Parade. Peopleplace children made and wore beautiful flower crowns and carried brightly colored flowers to represent all plant species. Many families joined us as we marched through downtown Camden and stopped traffic in all directions!
We concluded the walk at the Montessori school by singing several songs in celebration of our earth.

On Tuesday, April 27, we take time during our morning meeting to celebrate Sam’s birthday. After we sang “Happy Birthday,” Sam shared photos of himself as a baby, and then acted out “Harold and the Purple Crayon” while his mom read the story.

In the upstairs classroom we are reading lots of old favorite fairy tales – The Three Little Pigs, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Little Red Hen, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Gingerbread Man, Little Red Riding Hood, and many others. We have been very fortunate that Liza Walsh from the Rockport Public Library has brought dozens of books from the Library for us to add to our already fantastic collection of fairy tales. (more…)

We love our parent helpers! Vincent, Luna’s dad, plays pirate eagles with a group of children. After they serve him lemonade and try to sneak up on him while he drinks it. Surprise!

Today in the morning sun a group of children set to work making a lemonade stand. They mix water and mud and excitedly deliver refreshing drinks to all their friends.

Today we celebrate Luna turning five years old! Both of her parents; Vincent and Anna, join us as we bake blueberry muffins, play in the sun, do yoga, and enjoy a walk in the woods. Vincent even plays a game of pirate eagles and sips lemonade from our lemonade stand.
